Having problems trying to run Touhou

Hi! I'm trying to run Touhou on my old Windows XP PC I've got from my uncle. But I'm having some problems, the text and some sprites doesn't appear at all. It also happens on a virtual machine so what I'm doing wrong?

Nice theme, but can't help you without more info - system specs, OS specs, where did you get this game from etc.

Sorry for necroposting, I've reinstalled Windows XP, installed DirectX and now it works fine, also I've changed some stuff and the pc goes faster, I was able to use normally Movie Maker after switching the monitor
