Following an ill advised driver update, my mouse and keyboard no longer function. I had enough sense to set up a prior restore point but now cannot reach it. I would be grateful for any advice.

restart pc and immediately start tapping F8, an advanced boot menu will come up which will show different boot options, choose safe mode and let it take its time to boot up, when you are in safe mode you will see safe mode in all 4 corners of screen,

safe mode is slower and only the bare minimum of drivers are loaded, this is a troubleshooting boot.

try a system restore from safe mode if you can get there.
