Visual Studio 2017 is the last version of Visual Studio to support Windows XP. I plan to archive a copy of VS 2017 for XP purposes, and I thought that anybody who writes code ought to know this as well.

Visual Studio is a program for writing computer code. Visual Studio 2017 is new enough that it can't be installed on XP, but it lets programmers create programs for XP.

OK, I just realized that it is actually possible to create Windows XP apps with VS 2019. I feel really dumb right now...
