For a better XP

I think there a 2 main things.
1- Having an updated web browser
2- Some kind of generic drivers. Like if you buy a printer that it can work with a generic driver.

Im not really sure what you mean.. Windows XP is good as it is. Question about Apps is out of scope. Features? None. I actually use Win2003 with is more lean compared to WinXP and I love it. Unfortunately, its dying slowly. Luicky VirtualBox can extend its live, where you can run some VMs. Problem is HW, because new stuff does NOT support WinXP.

It would sure be nice if XP had a command similar 9x's "SYS D:" to install the boot loader (especially from a DOS boot disk!), so we can easily restore Windows backups onto different drives. The closest thing I found is XXclone (function limited shareware, but it lets you click the "Make Target Bootable" button forever.)

For hardware support, try DriverPacks from website driverpack.io
Works great for everything I've tried it on.
