Extensions don't install on new MyPal browser ?

Guys and gals, I just downloaded MyPal version 68.14.8b, and when I try to add extensions to it, it tells me that I need to download the new version of Mozilla to get them. Can you no longer add extensions to later versions of MyPal, or am I doing something wrong here ? Any info/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

Thank you, Elizabeth ! There is a lot to read, but still no solution on how to add extensions to the latest MyPal browser I am using. :-(

Have not used that version of MyPal for very long, but had issues with an earlier release. With Ublock Origin for example I had to track down the .XPI file and install manually.

Thank you for the reply ! I noticed on the page where you are supposed to add the extension to the browser, there is a link to download the xpi files for the extension you want. I also noticed that MyPal has an option to install extensions using a file (I guess xpi, it doesn't specify). I have never done that before, as I have always just added the extension like I always did before. My question is does the file get installed into the browser, like usual, or does it install in a portable fashion ?

Can't answer that for you since I'm not convinced there truly is a "Portable" version. I always ended up with browser data in the Windows XP "Docs&Settings" directory no matter which version I manually extracted to a given directory.

Regarding the Ublock Origin add-on, I would D/L a given XPI file, then use the browser "Install add-on from (that) file", and after the process I'd end up with an XPI file added to the browser Application Data directory, but that XPI file would be of a different name and size than the one I used for the install.

If you can figure it out, there will be extra ice cream for you tonight. :b

Personally, I have no intention to update Mypal 68 beyond 68.14.7b and there was trouble with 8b so I guess I'm sticking with XUL for the foreseeable future.

Did you ever get your extensions to install?

Did you find issues with 8b (I use 7b)? There was stuff mentioned on MSFN and I'm no longer on that forum - I just read - but I recall people were having issues with that version but maybe you are one of the lucky ones. ;)

No, I haven't had any luck in getting extensions installed on the new versions. So I am still using the older versions of MyPal, where the extensions work, but the browser is getting worse and worse every day, it seems. It was never this bad before, but lately lots of crashes and scripts not loading on pages, etc. I'm using 1b right now to write this missive. :)

I think you should have avoided 8b and went with 7b IMO because there were issues with it. Yeah, 1b is getting a bit long in the tooth but zip it and keep it around for safe keeping just in case; why not go ahead and try 7b and let us know if you have better success.

Good luck :)
