DirectX 10 and 11 Released for Windows XP

Hi, everyone!
Yes, it's true, even if it's not an official release, after years of development, we finally have a final, stable release!
In order to install the patch, just download the rar, extract it and install the "setup.exe".

Stay tuned for further updates.
p.s official release stuck at DX 9? Well, too bad, Microsoft.

To check which version of DirectX you currently have installed in Windows, simply open a Run dialog (Win+R) and type in dxdiag.
p.ps There’s also a folder named “GraphicX” in the archive that contains a number of individual tweaks and fixes for specific games and options to edit the DirectX version via the registry.

for PJ America:

DirectX 11.0 for Windows Vista SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP2:

Update for Windows Vista (KB971512)
Update for Windows Server 2008 (KB971512)
Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB971512)
Update for Windows Server 2008 for x64-based Systems (KB971512)

from here

vista is already at direct x 11. you do not need a patch.

@Elizabeth23... exactly.

@hawkiee552... as long as there are people interested in keeping XP alive, it will receive patch.

Besides, I'm working on a program in order to integrate the new update for certificates into XP, downloading them automatically from Microsoft.
Dunno if it will be possible.
Stay tuned.

Awesome, man. XP is a more DirectX 10/11 capable OS (for performance) than 7/8.1 ever were. Btw, have you considered other upload mirrors? I managed to get 100% downloaded thru FireFox, but for some reason, the Mega app never told FireFox to write that downloaded data into a file afterwards...

EDIT: Nvm. Mega decided to put the file on my Desktop instead of the Downloads folder that FireFox normally uses...

But why is it that you folks are so joyous over getting an unsupported DirectX version working, but many of the very same people are so weary of using POS Ready 2009 updates on XP (when they are in fact codebase identical)? I just don't understand the resistance to one while you embrace the other. Both mods pose the same amount of risk to system stability (which is none).

I'm glad you all have this, but I just found that odd.
:)

^ Dude, you obviously aren't a gamer. Why do we want to give up 50%+ increase in frame-rate by running 7/8.1 just to see the same visuals outputted to the screen?

No I'm not a gamer, but DirectX offers benefits to audio users as well (mixing and EQ plugins namely).

But that's not what I'm arguing. It's the inexpiable disdain for one and the embrace for another that has no less risk to your XP system's stability. That's all.

@Jody Thornton... the answer is simple.
A lot of people only trust something that has been tested before.
Even if POS-Ready updates will work on XP without compromising it due to the affinity (the core is pretty much the same), they have to "trust them blindly" and take the risk (that is, indeed, low, but not equal to none) 'cause Windows Update installs them automatically.

Anyway, I don't want to go off-topic, let me know if you find any issues related to the new Directx.
Besides, if you prefer a mirror, I can upload everything to another file-hosting, but please note that mega file manager is not required to download it and you can simply use your favorite browser ^_^

Btw, usually this sort of team effort warrants a website. Don't you guys have a home page for this sort of thing?

Also, has anyone tried this? I'm a little bit paranoid. Anything that isn't from Microsoft or a trusted solution like WinRAR simply doesn't get installed onto my system. The only way for me to install this hack would be on a spare hard drive, which I currently don't have.

Anyways, so how do we know whether this is the real deal, rather than hacking the DLL to report back a version of 10?

@eatup... I have installed those Directx, of course, and I tried them, they work fine.
Anyway, you are absolutely free not to install them ;)

I can see that you are an expert at using reverse psychology. Unfortunately that don't work on me. Jedi mind tricks don't work on me, only money...

In case anyone is wondering, I was just quoting from Episode I, when Qi Gon was trying to haggle with Republican credits. Don't really mean it ;)...

This was around for a long time so has the project ended a long time ago, would be nice if you give credits to the original author

@yummy90... there are in the installation; when you run the .exe, it will ask you which version you would like to install with the relative authors ;)
