Dell Latitude E6540 Notebook PC (support site)
That model notebook appears to have introduced in 2013.
What is the exact 7-character "service tag" number on yours?

The driver downloads section at its support site has drivers for Windows 7 and 8.1 and 10.
It does not have drivers for Windows XP or Vista.

I checked the Intel support site for the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 wireless device.
It has no drivers listed for it.

According to that service tag number, you have THIS Dell Latitude E6540 Notebook PC.

According to its support site, it was purchased in September 2014 in the United States and came with Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit.

According to its original system configuration section, it came with a Dell Wireless 1506 wireless mini card.

Did you replace it with an Intel Centrino Advance-N 6235 wireless mini card?

As I already said, its support site does not have drivers for Windows XP.
