I want to add a control panel shortcut for a .exe file. The file basically functions like a windows updater app, and if possible I would like to add it to the windows security center (I do recognize that this is unlikely).

you can access a program through the start menu or you can place a shortcut on the desktop

Most true, but I want the experience to be as 'official' as I can make it
. It's a tacky solution, but what I have done is basically replace the windows update website with something that actually works. Of course, the window update shortcut was never actually on the control panel but I still want to put it theredid either of the methods from my links help?
for example if I had a program called X, I would put an X icon in the control panel to open it, like I would if I put a shortcut on the desktop.
