i keep getting a message from my total defense software stating:

Windows corrupt file or directory C:\Documents and settings\user\local settings\application data\google\chrome\user data\default\preferences is corrupt and unreadable. It suggests running the check disc utility which I have done twice.

Although I can navigate into the system I am clueless as to what this means. I am still running XP and don't want to put any more money into this old PC.

Can anyone tell me the steps to take to possibly correct this ? Thanks so much! Maria
