My Dell Latitude D610 lets me turn off the touch pad when I attach an external mouse:
Control Panel > mouse > device select > check to turn of the TP
I just got a newer hand down, a Dell D830. Much nicer, but I cannot turn off the touch pad.
CP > mouse does not display a tab for device select. Instead, it looks just like my desktop's options: C>mouse only has tabs for buttons, pointers, pointer options, wheel, and hardware.
All are runnig XP pro with SP3 installed.
How do I get the D830 to display the other tabs within the CP > mouse options?
Is there a different approach to disable the touch pad when the mouse is attached?
I would sincerely appreciate any suggestions that you can offer.
Very respectfully,
Larry
