I bought a really cheap IBM 600E for my grandma to watch stuff on.

It came with Windows2000, but it has a password and I can't login, so I'm trying to install windows XP.

However, I can't find out how to boot XP on the 1998 IBM ThinkPad. If I try to boot on my 2012 Lenovo ThinkPad, it works, but not on the old one.

    Here's what I get:
Any help / Guidelines? Googling only gives solutions for Win7...

Could you try booting the XP setup from a USB, if the laptop supports it?
You can copy your Windows XP iso to a USB using isotousb. http://www.isotousb.com/

If your laptop doesn't support USB installs, try using a different XP disk. Another thing you could do is find a Windows 2000 disk since that is what was originally on the PC.

Please note that the 600E was originally shipped with Windows 98SE, so unless the RAM is maxed out, XP will run pretty slow.

    Good luck :)
