Can OLD threads be locked PLEASE?

I somehow still end up replying to old posts. It's how the group is set to sort somehow. Cause I'll start out ok.
Last one was EIGHT years ago.
I don't always notice or even see the date of post. So perhaps a way to report/close threads be a great idea. It's wasted time.

go to members, look for Ian, then address a private message to him, :)

when I go to the forum, I first click on New Posts, that way I only do recent questions. I have noticed some replies to some old questions. :)

No.

Just because you arrive late to a meeting, your opinions or experience are no longer valid? Rubbish! Especially on a site with a dwindling number of members, many threads are years old.

Many people still happen upon these threads from Google searches. The prescribed remedies and experiences, new and old, can be helpful regardless of how old they are. Example, the driverpack solution to all driver problems.

Here! Hear! I've NEVER understood the whole hate-thing for "necro-posting". Why keep creating new threads for no good reason, when the older ones can just be revived and expanded upon.

Windows XP was strangled by its wicked stepmother on April 8, 2014, over ten years ago, to open the way to her latest progeny, the wobbly Win 7, the neurotic Win 8, the treacherous Win 10, the debauched Win 11.

How a thread relating to XP may be seen as too old, or useless, or obsolete, in a forum focused on it, is definitely beyond me.
