My HP laptop which has worked well for years is being problematic. The problem may or may not be linked to uninstalling Express VPN, as it occurred around the same time. The machine is connecting via WiFi to the modem however none of any the browsers I have tried are able to access the web. I have tried the XP Internet Explorer trouble shooter as well as the network trouble shooter, but both these come to a dead end without any resolution, recommending I contact the service provider, however I feel that the problem doesn't lay with them.
