Is it possible to boot off of a USB device, I'm thinking I've done it before with a thumb drive but now that I'm trying it with an external CD/DVD driver it's not showing up on the boot priority in bios, I'm trying to do this because I would like to upgrade windows to windows 7, and my disk driver is bad

depends on your pc, what is the make, model and model number of your pc and I can look up the manual, an easy way to check is to go to BIOS and look at the boot sequence, is usb listed there??

plug in a bootable flash drive and then restart and go to bios and see if a usb boot drive is available now.

dependent on above you may have to buy a cd drive, they are pretty cheap if you can find one. :)
