Blue Screen log in issue

    I am having a problem whereby my desktop is open, I step away from the computer for a few minutes and come back and the screen is back to blue XP screen requiring that I enter my password again.

    How do you change the settings so that the desktop stays up for an extended or indefinite period of time so you don't have to keep logging in if you step away from your system for a few minutes?

    in display properties, screensaver, uncheck box to show welcome screen on resume.
