I have a really old XP on an intranet with 0 access to the net, I can only install things by remoting in, sharing my drive and using offline installers. I've recently caught wind that it has an infection via Mariposa botnet, nissan and all. I'm going to nuke the system anyway but I have a few others hanging about that might eventually experience this issue. Anyone have a suggestion for an antivirus that I can use? I've tried Malwarebytes, Avast, hell I've tried symantec and all have come up unable to install on my old systems.

Or if there are any tips on how to remove the dang thing then I'm all ears. Not having to nuke the system would be preferable. Thanks!

do you know the name of the infection?

I use 360 total security essentials by qihoo. there is also a 360 total security with a lot of extra cleanup programs, but I do not like all the programs, I do my own cleaning.

depending on how much ram you have, there are 5 engines available with 360, I have 2gb of ram and use all five engines to scan, however if you have less, you will not get the full scan possibilities as you will only be able to use 3 /4 engines.

Sweet, I'll try that out thanks!

The initial scan indicated that the particular computer had mariposa bot net infection signs and a search of the registry found all of the files that infection creates; an exe called nissan and a desktop.ini in a trash folder among others.

EDIT - Company net prohibits access to china, haha! Guess I'll have to wait to get 360.

That's the plan. The infected system is sitting next to me but other projects have come up so it'll have to wait. Helps that I forgot to do so too, hehe.
