acer aspire one win 7 to xp

    Greetings all, i have a problem with an acer aspire one which someone installed win 7 on. As you can imagine, it isn't running too well at all only having a gig of ram.
    I tried installing win xp back onto it, but neither flash or external disc drive instalation methods pick up the hdd , any ideas how i can get xp back on this machine.
    Apart from the sluggishness it works fine, sort of, so no idea why hdd isn't recognised.

    what was on the acer to begin with, was xp installed?

    also do this in bios

    try to change your SATA settings from AHCi to IDE.

    yes xp was originally on the machine and i will try your advice thank you, will let you know how i get on
