Good Morning ,
I have Fujistu Siemens Amilo Pro V2000 , Running Windows XP . Now when i start up my computer it it works but the computer is very slowly and if i used it for 1 or 2 minutes it hangs up and i need to pull out the charger plug and insert it again .

PC Specs:
OS : Windows XP
Ram: 512MB Ram
Hard Disk: Samsung Seagate 150GB
Computer Model : Fujistu Siemens

My hard disk is about 95% Full

Please help me because when i try to copy some files it hangs.

windows requires ,at the bare minimum, 15% free space to operate, you will have to uninstall some programs to get that percentage

===================

do the following to get some space on your harddrive:

DO THE FOLLOWING TO CLEAN YOUR COMPUTER
(with thanks to Sheenan Stanley)
Check for malware:
Download, install, run, update and perform full system scan

Malwarebytes (MBAM): http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

Removing everything ,Rebooting when needed

The less you have running all the time, the better the things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to figure out what all is starting up when your computer does/when you log on. Look up anything you do not know about by searching online. You can hopefully figure out if there are things starting when you computer does (or you logon) that you do not need and then configure them (via their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not start up - using your resources without reason
.
You can download and utilize Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking up your processor/CPU time and memory. This can help you recognize applications you might want to look into alternatives for and/or get rid of all together.

You may wish to free up some disk space

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9GB *with* an Office suite, Photo Editing software, alternative Internet browser(s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

If you are comfortable with the stability of your system, you can delete the uninstall files for the patches that Windows XP has installed...

You can run Disk Cleanup - built into Windows XP - to erase all but your latest restore point and cleanup even more "loose files"..

How to use Disk Cleanup

Run TFC to get rid of a lot of temp files, the desktop will disappear, this is normal.

You can turn off hibernation if it is on and you don't use it..

When you hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system's memory to the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always equal the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the hibernate feature and want to recapture the space that Windows uses for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

- Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, and click Power Options).
-
- Select the Hibernate tab, clear the "Enable hibernation" check box, then click OK; although you might think otherwise, selecting Never under the "System hibernates" option on the Power Schemes tab doesn't delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-
- Windows will remove the "System hibernates" option from the Power Schemes tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control how much space your System Restore can use...

1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

2. Click the System Restore tab.

3. Highlight one of your drives (or C: if you only have one) and click on the "Settings" button.

4. Change the percentage of disk space you wish to allow.. I suggest moving the slider until you have just about 1GB (1024MB or close to that...)

5. Click OK.. Then Click OK again.

You can control how much space your Temporary Internet Files can utilize...

Empty your Temporary Internet Files and shrink the size it stores to a size between 64MB and 128MB..

- Open ONE copy of Internet Explorer.
- Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
- Under the General tab in the "Temporary Internet Files" section, do the following:
- Click on "Delete Cookies" (click OK)
- Click on "Settings" and change the "Amount of disk space to use:" to something between 64MB and 128MB. (It may be MUCH larger right now.)
- Click OK.
- Click on "Delete Files" and select to "Delete all offline contents" (the checkbox) and click OK. (If you had a LOT, this could take 2-10 minutes or more.)
- Once it is done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, re-open Internet Explorer.

You can use an application that scans your system for log files and temporary files and use that to get rid of those:

Ccleaner (Free!)

( just the disk cleanup - don't play with the registry part for now )

RUN CHECKDISK

will take time and a reboot.

Defragment

you will get several error messages until windows has enough free space to operate, do not try to defrag until you have some free space.

Hi ,
It does not give me any error messages but some things in the screen and the laptop is getting overheated so i will try to work very fast or do anything , because it was a old laptop and now i am going to use it again!

I will try to let the fan (of the computer ) to be cooler

you could get a boot disk such as puppy linux (free) in ISO form and burn it to a pen drive or a cd and use that to look at your harddrive and remove items from it that way.

if pc is overheating you will have to take cover off and keep fan blowing at the insides to keep it cool, and if the internal fan is kaput then it will need to be replaced.

your best bet would be to turn off pc, remove the harddrive and slave to another pc and then you could get programs off it that way.

Hi,
I found it that the fan turns on 1 second and then off!

So many people had that problem

your problem is FIRST the harddrive is too full

My hard disk is about 95% Full

SECOND is that you only have 512MB Ram,

THIRD, if your fan is only working part time, you are taking a risk on other components burning up from too much heat.

Fourth, if there is not any data you need to save wipe the drive and reinstall xp.

The third problem i fixed it!:)

so you are not able to boot into windows??

here are some examples of a boot.ini, if you can boot to windows or safe mode, then you can edit your boot.ini file:

A typical simple example
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

Example with Recovery Console as an option
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" /cmdcons

Example with Safe Mode as an option and "timeout" =10 seconds
[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Safe Mode" /safeboot:minimal /sos /bootlog

Simple boot.ini for a Windows XP SP2 system
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

===========

if you have the recovery console installed you can boot to this and run fixboot.
