VUE 5 Win32 Full CDs & Extras (2005) - Best For Most All XP Machines>>>

As stated in the Vue 6.05 portable thread VUE has been released for free years ago now-

https://www.bentley.com/software/e-on-software-free-downloads/

So if you have a modern powerful machine with GOOD graphics then there you go...

However for XP users this VUE 5 is the best version for a variety of XP machines...

It renders actually better than VUE 6 because Eon retrograded the render engine to claim better render times... I have a render showing both same render settings on same scene in both VUE 5 & 6 it is easy to see the difference zooming in... If I find it again I'll upload it...

VUE 5 was the first VUE to have been used in the movie industry... It was used in 'Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest' it was used on Skull Island to mix more trees & vegetation in amongst the natural real stuff & nobody was the wiser for it...

I highly suggest getting back into the VUE 5 Mindset... You can go back & take a look what was happening... The video presentation is great, showing off VUE 5 animations but ONLY the DivX version, the MOV version is only 'half there'-

Pellegrino has most his VUE 5 tuts uploaded to YT-

They are about midway down you can't miss the VUE 5 GUI (Blue & White)....

GeekAtPlay had some but they were deleted years ago... They were first commercial, then uploaded as free, then deleted... I have them all will upload as time permits...

This weekend I installed on a netbook I had since 2010, an Acer Aspire One D250 with 1000x600 screen, dual atom processor, etc... works fine... These are some screens from the netbook-

These are done with the 'Quick Render' which is just one setting up from 'Draft' one would of course wanna use a much better setting & larger image size for any serious render-

You can play with materials & laugh all day long-

OK so listen... I had undone the CD ISOs into RARs for better compression & file upload-download speed... CD1 is the install CD & you can install from anywhere you UnRAR it at... Start up the 'QeyJen' from the 'QeyJen' folder...Yup, I renamed it to avoid hosters looking for the common 'Keygen' names...

Leave the keygen open while you start the install it will ask for the ##s, finish up...

CD2 has the scenes which you overwrite into the 'Scenes' folder in the program directory NOT 'My Documents'... If you do it wrong VUE won't be able to find them...

'Vue 5 Infinite' folder is a 'users' folder structure... This gets overwritten in the proper place in your 'My Documents/eon-software'... this includes some extras not included with VUE install... When you wanna use anything you go to the bottom of open dialog where it say 'Personal Collection' or hit the browse button...

I had also attempted upload to SendSpace but during upload they went into maintenance mode, how nice...

So there are only TWO, don't wait...

A few things about said VUE...

When you start VUE you should forbid connections to eon-software.com or whatever it is... I'm sure nobody is looking anymore if you try to input the old eon address it just goes to the new bentley site & since they are giving it out free now I'm sure they don't care anymore...

But there will also be nothing to connect to for any advantage so why allow it anyway?

If you didn't do it at the beginning you can do it in the Prefs...

Also it will almost always say your graphics card is not on the list so should we switch to software rendering?... NO!... Of course if it's newer than 2005 it's not GOING to be... Usually a crash of ANY kind this dialog will appear press the 'Don't Show Again' tick... Trying to open a VUE file that was done in ANY newer version will cause freeze/crash in idiotic fashion then the dialog about your graphics card will come back again which had NOTHING to do with it...

OK here's a care package has some MHTs-PDFs & the VUE5 d'Esprit & Infinite Demo Reels... d'Esprit is the budget beginner version of VUE... There's a good PDF on render settings, bla-bla>>>

Thanks Dayron...

OK have converted some Birdman Models to VUE5 format... Birdman shared a ton of models over at the now friggin' gone ShareCG and they closed up in April giving peeps just a WEEKs notice...

Luckily I probably have 80% of Birdman's models... They have a genius level toon nuance to them so do well with toon figures or other as well...

You just take these VOBs & drop them into MyDocuments/eon-software/Vue 5 Infinite/Objects folder then when opening go down to 'PersonalObjects' you will instantly see the thumbnails-

Thank you for introducing this software to me! It's amazing and generally hard to find on the web.

At first, I gave up on your version 5 because I couldn't run the QeyJen. So I decided to try the free 2023 version. But sadly, generating procedural or infinite terrains always crashes the application on my computer. And I really want the infinite terrains because they have the Sand Dunes!

So I gave version 5 another shot and... this time I ran the QeyJen on my virtual Win Xp and it worked! I just copied the key into my host OS (Win 10) and installed Vue 5 there. Keeping virtual XP on my PC is more useful than I ever thought it would be!

But as is usually the case with old versions... this one doesn't have the exact thing I need. It lacks Infinite Terrain. Is there an alternative way to easily create sand dunes in Vue 5? Or maybe you know a way to get past the crashes on Vue 2023 when generating infinite terrains? Perhaps the program runs out of RAM when attempting to generate an endless landscape. But generating sea works without issues.

Well a sand dune scene is pretty easy to create in Vue by oneself just start practicing with the terrain generator then apply a sandy material or have a look at some of the included scenes & modify to suit...

I imagine unless you had a bitchin' modern machine an infinite terrain would be unstable as Vue was never really engineered for such... I have MojoWorld which can generate entire planets (and very good dune scenes) and you can fly around the entire planet but it was coded & engineered to do that so it can do it even on old machines...

Sorry I don't know anything about the latest free VUE, haven't downloaded it as can't use it not really interested in it even though I got a half-assed windows 10 machine....

Will be uploading new converted VUE5 models soon though...
