restore to original

Is there a way to restore my hp mini to its original state? I'm running xp home. I'm about to lose the machine and really need a fix.

Please, please, please! I'm going to lose this machine. Someone please tell me how I can restore the system to it's out of the box state. Please, I can't afford to buy a new one!

No, they didn't come with them. And the mini doesn't have a cd/dvd drive anyway. Thanks very much for your reply.

FIRST▬ When requesting help give important information in your first post.
1▬What brand? (HP, Dell, etc)
2▬What model? (Presario 902a, Inspiron 703, etc)

If I knew those 2 pieces of information, you'd probably be restoring it to 'out of the box' condition right now. ½ hr process.

HP Mini 110 is that what you have? If so,

Unless the hard drive is corrupted or you have changed the OS, try running the recovery from the recovery partition on the hard drive. To run the recovery, turn on the power and press the f11 key multiple times to start the program. If the recovery manager program on the recovery partition does not work, order a replacement recovery disc from HP.

Thank you!

Yes, it's an hp mini 110 and I haven't changed the OS. Thank you for your help!! I'll do as you suggested. I hope also to find out why I continually have disk space problems with laptops (my other question in another thread.)

No there is nothing stored on the mini. With my Toshiba I could restart and hold down the zero key to go back to factory. i will check out the links you sent and look for help with that. ty

I found some hp forums and will try and get an answer there. Thanks for weighing in BrokenWindows. When I figure it out, I'll post it here and close the thread.

This is what it says on page 111:
Write your cd key down before proceeding.
Using System Restore
NOTE: System Restore is the recommended option to restore the original operating system.
To restore the original operating system and programs using the System Restore utility that is installed
on the device, follow these steps:
1. Turn on or restart the device, and then press the esc key repeatedly while the “F10 = BIOS Setup
Options” message is displayed in the lower-left corner of the screen.
The “System Restore” page opens.
2. Use the arrow keys to select System Restore, and then press enter.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions to restore the system.
