You might have noticed that I was gone since Monday. I was on a trip in Poland, which isn't an undeveloped country. There were many great things on it, but for the interest of this forum, I will point out one.
The first place, a Planetarium, used Windows Server 2003 with RSpecExplorer. I knew it which Windows it was because I took a photo of the start button and did a reverse image search. That is interesting, as Windows Server is really insecure, while RSpecExplorer is available on many other version of Windows.
The other place used Windows 7. They used it due to older hardware and the presenter used a Yctze Classic Old Mobile Phone, so he might have used Windows 7 due to spying concerns.
The last time I saw an old OS being used in the wild was in a bowling arena. They kept track of shoes using Excel on Windows XP. Their "database" was also connected to LAN (based off of icons). They also had an old, square black Dell monitor with its back corners rounded. The reason is that XP has been fitting their needs since they started using it. A shoe "database" does not require Windows 11 and they probably did not want to use Linux due to already having XP experience. A hardware upgrade would also be an additional cost.
So if anyone ever doubts you that Windows XP and other old Windows versions aren't dead, you can tell them about this post!
If you had any such encounters with old operating systems, tell me below!
