Let's create our gamedev studio from WinXP true fans

I always dreamed to be some game writer, because i have literature passion since my child years... Maybe here are some people who like programming, 3D (or 2D) art, animation programming, input programming, modding? Games that i really love: Fallout 1-2, Baldur's Gate 1-2, Arcanum, Planescape. Torment, Icewind Dale 1-2. Who else dreams to create something like these ones? Maybe someone can give an advice what tools for modding are simple for ordinary user and able to be used with WinXP.

I like the idea! I know some C++ and XP WinAPI, but for quite simple 2D games and not such complex ones like Torment.

As for modding, I rather focused on Minecraft (quite a modern game), outside of that on MS-DOS games Doom II, Wolfenstein3D and Duke Nukem 3D, whose modding tools support XP outright or run via compatibility.

Each game has its own tools and communities maintaining them. As the games that you listed are XP-era games, their modding tools probably support XP.

If you want to learn modding, start from simple texturepacks and reskins, then try out some basic scripts. Once you are comfortable with your tools and knowledgible on the game's modding capabilities, try out custom models and more advanced custom logic (new advanced bosses, new custom mechanics etc.).

However, I have not modded any of these games myself, nor do I know someone who did that.
