Hello Manour,

Sorry to bring bad news. The lightest version of Windows 7 32 bit still needs:

1GHZ processor
1 GB RAM
16GB hard disk space for install.

XP is perfect for an older PC.

Umm, your XP, "has totally died".

Please write down and post what went wrong step by step and we here on the forum might be able to help you bring XP back to life.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Cheers,

Aunty Jack.

Eh, what do you mean by XP totally died? Btw, 256 RAM isn't even sufficient to run XP smoothly. Have you thought about Windows 2000? It's effectively abandonware, so you could dl the untouched iso that was retired from MSDN at winworldpc.com. The CD key can be found by googling for the retail version. One of the most stable OSes that wasn't built on top of DOS, it's like a close cousin to XP with less hardware demand.

A perfect computer to run a distro of linux. This will run and fly using ram based operating system like Puppy or DSL. These are more modern than XP with a modest hardware requirements.
