errors with advapi32.dll in XP

My brokers software quit working in winxp (& win7) on feb 24 after an update.

i got it working in win7 by d/l a standalone non-updateable version but when i tried installing it in winxp I got error msg 'procedure entry point RegGetValueA could not be located in the dll advapi32.dll'.

I tried registering the dll with regsvr32 but got 'advapi32 was loaded but the dllregisterserver entry point was not found. this file cannot be registered'.

Any ideas?
 
can you delete the update and/or download an earlier version of the software that was working and install on xp, I am sure that the update was the problem as many softwares are no longer supporting xp.

it seems that in Windows XP this function is only available in 64-bit version. Consider RegQueryValueEx instead, which requires explicit null-termination of read strings.

can you post/send PM a download link for your brokers software? i can install here in XP and try some things
 
I tried running this program on my backup computer & it seems what the program is updating is java.
I think its integral with the program as I seem to recall its been discontinued for general use.
The updated version runs on Win10 & the standalone special 64bit version runs on Win7.
Not a big deal just the inconvenience of having to boot into other os. I still spend much time in XP.
