Can't get past password prompt

Have an old Toshiba laptop running XP....went a long time not using it but now have a need to give it life again

But...can't remember my old password...searched around the desk but no go....not surprising since it's been years since zI fired this laptop up

How do I change the old password that I don't remember so I can use the laptop once again

does your admin account have a password also?

can you boot to safe mode without a password?, if so then you can create another account, transfer the files and then delete the account that you cannot remember the password.
