Project5 is one of my favorite music creation programs... The Cakewalk stuff is DX oriented (directX) & they had nailed the automation of DX plugins where others who also hook DX plugs did not...
Project5 is simple & well done workflow way easier than Sonar was... I never really liked Sonar... Project5 was a product of Cakewalk till 2008 when the key developer guy quit Cakewalk then they had no choice but to quit the product... At that time it had got to version 2.51 which I don't recommend for several reasons...
This 1.5 you simply install then update the adapter which knows where it needs be installed then you can 'wrap' VST plugins & it does a pretty good job... It will detect any DX-DXi plugins on it's own...
Project5 has step recording too or you can just manual paint notes with mouse or realtime record... ACiD WAVs can be used in it too...
