Activate Windows XP

Hi all,
I hope someone can help me - just recently my old PC died requiring me to obtain a suitable replacement & make a fresh install of Windows XP.

I did this from the original CD I had with the old PC & have the original product key but cannot activate the fresh install online - I keep getting told that the product key is not valid. The CD was for an OEM supplied Windows XP SP2.

Can anyone advise how I can get Windows XP activated - this is necessary due to having some very old SCSI h/w which still works perfectly well but uses drivers not supported beyond Windows XP.
With thanks
Paul

if the install cd is OEM then it is tied to the pc it came with and the product key is not good on another pc, unless the new pc is the same exact pc as the one that died.

That is what I feared - it is extremely unlikely (well, impossible) that I could get the same PC, so is there any legal way I can activate the copy of XP I have.

no, you would have to buy a new license for xp, but I am not sure that you can anymore, lots of persons are downloading the iso from the internet, but I am not sure if these downloads are good are not:

above are a few download sites, whether they come with valid product keys, I do not know. :)

My XP (both 32 & 64 bit) have so-called 'corporate' keys, can't install (either) XP without it, once Windows is installed, "I am done", no activation, no nothing, thats it. No phone, no internet. Done

(edit: that is, two diff keys, one for 32, one for 64)
