are driving me crazy. Something is triggering WMI to launch in the
background who then recruits helpsvc to tag team the CPU to its knees with
my PC face down on the mat. I'm talking 100% resource usage, dead in the
water box that becomes a zombie for whatever some software author decided
was more important than anything else. I have Process Explorer, and when
they invade, I kill them. It's hard to miss their invasion, so if I am on
my PC, I notice. But they are undoubtedly making night forays as well, and
God knows what they are up to. I have been googling for info on this, and I
found this post from back in 2004:

So I tried to find info on turning on WMI debugging, but no luck.

How can I stop these undead beasties?

TIA for any help at all.

Brian

I can help you KILL that process without other software

RUN THE COMMAND ON DOS PROMPT

msconfig

Go to services box and look for two processes call ed Windows Management
something or other, there are two close together, near the bottom, click off
those boxes so that you deactivate.

Now reboot your pc and when done enter windows system 32 directory and
delete the ****ing WMIPRVSE **** OF A THING

Nobody really knows what the **** this process does, all the experts differ
in opinion, I start to feel they use this for "Spying" or something like that
but I am not very sure
