I just formated and reinstalled Win xp Pro now I get a *note* "Out of Range".
What is out of range? How do I fix it if I cannot access the internet?
Is this another MS Joke like 7,8,9?

    Re: Not in range
Thank you so very much. What took place was a reinstall of winXP. There were no other options. Perfectly fine with me. I'm too old to pursue further. I can't even install the Drivers needed from Dell....again. However, the "Not in range " still stops the connection to the OS/internet.
Rather than fight any more I'll donate the computer, printer, monitor, keyboard, Restore CD, all to DAV (Disabled American Vets). A refurbished w/XP pro is only about $50.
BTW.. MY Aunt Elizabeth sang the part of the Mother in the film "Dumbo".

if you could get an older model monitor that was made for xp, I believe that you would not get the error, I have a Dell dimension 3000, the monitor went out and I got another one but could not find one for xp, so I got one for win7 and it works, just every not and then I get a signal not supported when I restart but it goes on to the desktop eventually. :)

did you ever get to the desktop?

    have you installed before?

    what media did you use?

if you used a recovery cd, that is not the same as an install cd
what did it say exactly on the cd??
what was the make, model and model number of the pc?

Answ... Absolutly correct. I have a 14" monitor also and it works great on the problem GX620.

did you ever get to the desktop?
Answr... only with the 14" monitor.

    have you installed before?
    Answr. Many many times

    what media did you use?
Answr.....The restore disc, It does not include a number of drivers. I get them from Dell, but it is a big hassle. The ethernet mostly is a problem. Dell gives many drivers to choose from for ethernet and video.

if you used a recovery cd, that is not the same as an install cd
what did it say exactly on the cd?? drivers not included.
    Answer.. Understood.

what was the make, number of the pc? Dell GX620 service tag 9SK5T91.
What's weird is my 2nd GX620 is identical in content ,etc. But no problems at all.....

So please don't worry I will find the problem if I live long enough. I refuse to give up XP !!!!! I have 2 more computers, the Dell w/xp-pro. ;>) and compaq w/7 .... UGH!

One more fun thing, My TWO printers ran out of blk ink yesterday. At the cost of the ink by Canon & HP, I orderd a new printer (Wallyworld) and ink for less!

    you are so right!! :)

have a great day and just a not when looking for dell drivers, you have to see which is installed on your particular pc and download that one, you can look in device manager and/or run Belarc advisor.

    out of range

Ahhh...All is corrected.., I reverted to the previous Bios and a different Video driver from Dell and WAALAA .
I always use Belarc not so much MS support as neither tell the Dell Driver numbers to use.
They just give a list to choose from. I happened to pick the wrong one.
    Thanks again ..............Bill
