I need an audio driver for Windows XP Pro SP3 on Compaq Presario CQ60-615DX. None of the ones I found work. The closest to working was a driver that played nothing from speakers, but it did play out of headphones at a lower pitch (To me, no sound is like broken glass, wrong speed/pitch is like 1,000,000 glasses broken)

UPDATE: Device Instance ID - HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5067&SUBSYS_103C360B&REV_1003\3&C39D3AE&0&0001

Orig. OS is Win 7, I multibooted XP, 7, and 10. I believe I have tried that driver, but I will try again when I get home at 3PM.

read through above, if after a couple of restarts you still get the error, lets see if we can download a driver for vista, sometimes what will work for vista will work on xp since your pc was not made for xp.

above is the driver for vista, see if that works. if not we can try something else, :)

    EDIT:

reply no 2, one of the threads in my last reply said to install device manually through device manager, go to device manager and choose scan for hardware changes and let it find the audio card, and then point the install dialog box to the desktop where you have the driver downloaded to.

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Driver used was link by makinu1der2, other drivers and Vista driver produced code 10, solutions didn't work

The pitch is normal if I watch YouTube, but it changes after I close it out.

glad it worked but this is as far as I can go, do not know how to adjust the pitch, unless you go to the audio properties, (right click on the volume icon and choose adjust properties or choose open volume control. :)

let me know if adjusting the properties works, :)

Thanks, the sound has stabilized to a somewhat proper pitch, which is OK for me.
UPDATE: I have to keep Firefox open to work, but thanks anyway!
