recording onto my computer

Hello, I've recently discovered that I can make videos on my computer with
the Windows Movie Maker program. I would, however, like to know how I can
record songs directly onto the computer, using just the built-in microphone,
WITHOUT using WMM, so I can share with friends and family!

Help!

Download Audacity and Lame mp3 (Google, you'll find them), they are free.

Read the Audacity tutorials.

If freeware Audacity seems too difficult, I recommend Magix
software (Audio Cleaning Lab or MP3 Maker.)
