I think what the OP means (I reckon he must know how the Window's clipboard
works with the [PrntScr] key) is that his old program won't do screen
capture (PrntScr) when it runs in full-screen mode (though, I may be
wrong).
You could try the DOS utility; CAPTURE.COM that provides DOS with a
functioning [PrntScr] key (i.e. Pressing [PrnScr] copies current screen to
the copy-buffer ready to paste into a program such as mspaint or similar ).
It came included with Microsoft's first incarnation of the WORD
word-processor program for DOS.
Another idea you can try ; you can also start your DOS game, program or
utility, from within the DOSBox shell program - a DOS emulator for versions
of Windows (where no real-DOS exists). Your DOS application will run in
"Windowed-mode" and the normal functionality [PrnScr] should work.

Download Microsoft WORD for DOS which includes the CAPTURE.COM utility.

Another "share-ware" (free-to-try) program along the same lines ;

....And you can obtain DOSBox from ;
