How to prevent (as user) reading/logging websites and traffic at the WLAN (wireless) router? public proxy usage?

Assume I am sitting in a public location like bar or hotel lobby and use the public wireless (WLAN) service
to surf the Internet.

Ok, I am using a WPA2 key encryption for the way mynotebook--->WLAN Router
So this step is safe against logging.

But then the WLAN router decrypt my (DNS) requests, my emails and all other stuff.
An evil guy could log all this traffic into a logfile.

How can I prevent this? I am not talking about military grade saftey but just avoiding the possibility
to log my traffic at the used Router?

Suggestion: If I use a (public) proxy (which I trust). Then the way

mynotebook---->WLAN-Router--------->Proxy

should be completely (!) hidden.

Is this correct?

Any other suggestion?

Peter

Simple. Don't use public wifi if you are so paranoid about
security.

Please note there is no such thing as complete security and even
Microshit will tell you that. Why do you think Microshit's
products are still being pirated left, right and centre despite
all the anti-piracy measures implemented by nutters at Redmond
Hill? they couldn't even manage nntp groups so what made you say
they can secure your system fully? They keep pumping out security
patches month after month and the system is still the same!
