Phantom .NET Framework 3.5 sp1 showing up in programs list

Had a glitch with SoundForge 8 and want to reinstall. This requires
installation of .NET framework 1 and service pack. .NET Framework 1
will install but not the service pack.

I notice that in the programs list .NET Framework 3.5 sp1 is showing
up but with no "Size" indication and the system won't let me uninstall
it.

Also experiencing some BSOD's and crashing. Wondering if it's all
related.

How do I get rid of this "ghost" install of .NET Framework 3.5 sp1?

Running XP Pro SP2.
