This is the third time within a year and a half this has
happened. I shutdown my laptop before I go to bed. I
wake up the next morning and power up my laptop. It
boots through the BIOS no problem. The WindowsXP Home
Edition logo pops up with the green progress bar rolling
with no problem. The screen goes black and then the
light blue screen comes up with the WindowsXP logo
centered and just to the right. The hard drive blinks a
couple of times and then nothing. The computer sits
there, with that screen on it. The mouse cursor will
move around the screen but the keyboard has no effect. I
have the laptop set up to automatically login as I am the
only user on the laptop. The light blue screen normally
isn't even seen as the system boots into my setup. I am
not talking about the blue screen of death, I am talking
about the xp login screen with no logins present. I have
used my restore disk two times already to rebuild my
system as no one could provide any help. That sucks too
as the system gives no indication that anything is wrong
before I shut it down. It is just a gamble of whether or
not it is going to have this problem the next time I boot
it up. I would love to find out what is going on with
it, but I don't know enough to figure it out. Any help
you can provide would be much appreciated. Thanks in
advance.

Have a look at the Dr Watson file and see if anything is in there.

still wrong?

I wish I could, but I can't get there. The system just
hangs at that screen. No key combination does anything.
CTRL-ALT-DEL = Nothing. CTRL-ESC = Nothing. I can't get
in to look at anything. Is there a back door to get into
Dr. Watson?
