I have 2 different physical hard drives installed, one is IDE controlled the
other SATA controlled, both with XP Pro installed. All the same basic
software installed on both. I recently tried to install "Beyond Atlantis" on
the SATA drive and got the message "need directx 8" and installation stopped.
Tried installing the game on the IDE drive and it installed perfectly. What
is stranger is that the game installed on the SATA drive just a few hours
earlier, but crashed while playing. Now the error message comes up.

Can anyone explain to me what is happing here and why?
