Sweetie, you've lost me.
OK, here we go.
1) You reckon its a volume problem ? How so ? An audio track that is too
loud (or is clipping, to use the technical term) will not cause echo, it
will cause distortion (which is a musicians nightmare).
2) Re-installing WMP on top of itself should not cause problems, however see
point n°7 .
3) Invalid Disk is a WMP problem and is generic. You can try changing the
make of media you want to burn to. This is why I never use WMP, its too
flakey. I use Nero, but its not cheap, and sometimes XPBurner which is free.
I have zero problems.
4) Did you try XPBurner as I suggested ? What were the results - the same
thing ?
5) In the meantime, do the following :
Right click once on My Computer > Manage > Device Manager > any yellow
exclamation marks showing up, especially against your Sound Device ? If
none, all is good. If there is one you have a sound card problem and you'll
need to re-install the xp drivers for it.
6) Also :
Fire up WMP then > Options > select the Device tab > highlight Speakers >
click on Properties > make sure your sound card is selected > Apply > OK >
you should have sound.
7) If still no sound, double click on the Loudspeaker Icon in the systray
(bottom right of your screen). Make sure all the sliders are up to max and
nothing is Muted (uncheck if checked).
Post back if its still not right.
Cheers,
Jerry
