Somewhere a program got deleted without the using the 'add/remove
programs' in the control panel. Now I am trying to reinstall the program
but can't since it thinks it is already installed. I tried to delete
using the add/remove, but it says that it can't find it. How do I delete
all traces of the program and make the add/remove program not look for
it. TIA

There are a couple ways. If you have, or get, ccleaner (google for it) you
can do a registry "cleaning" and delete everything that's a problem.

If you're adverse to registry cleaners, then as long as you're careful, you
could manually search for the program name and delete it manually.

In either case, backup your computer's boot drive first so you can recover
is something goes wrong like you make a mistake, power glitch, whatever.

Also if you're manually cleaning the registry Export EVERYTHING you
delete first, so you can get it back. Also create a new System Restore
Point.
CCleaner will automatcally save any changes it makes so you can "undo"
them if it does break something or you took out a wrong entry. This program
very seldom creates any problems; in fact, Ive never seen it do so.

HTH,

Twayne`

I'd paly it safe though
and just delete all entries related to the deleted application

I forgot to mention; delete all/any leftover folders, too. Usually they'll
be in the .../program files directory.

If there's an entry in the add/remove programs, even if it doesn't work,
this program will get rid of it & remove most traces:-
Revo uninstaller
http://www.revouninstaller.com/
The freeware version will do all that is required.
Regards Mike.

A very common problem with Windows explorer is reported on all Windows help forums. I've seen people complaining about problem with long path files deletion.

Some common problems with Windows Explorer people talk about:

- Doesn't allow to delete files with long path names
- Pops up error while deleting unwanted files or unnecessary files
- Errors like: Access denied, sharing violation, source in use etc.

I've found a very simple but smart solution for all these above mentioned common problems. A very simple but powerful tool to overcome these problems. Everyone who plays with the files must have this tool. Its compatible with all versions of Microsoft Windows.

Download it at here:
